I sit outside alone,
as we all must at this time,
wondering when next
another human
might hold me in their arms.
Tonight the dipping sun
cradles warm my face
and holds me close,
the wind washes against me
with a gentle breeze
and cleans away the day.
The whispering leaves of nearby trees
rub their fingers through my soul,
unfettered birdsong from all around
work their palms deep into my shoulders
a paling and empty blue sky
sings love songs straight to my heart.
I sit outside,
but not alone.
I am loved
as it has
always been.
